13/08/2003 HYBRIDS BEFORE FUEL CELLS
Car magazine recently quoted Robert Peugeot, head of quality and innovation at Peugeot-Citroen, as saying that the current cost of building a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle is about 100 times that of an equivalent petrol car. Even with the economies of scale afforded by mass production, the cost would still be 10 times as high. However it is his guess that fuel cell cars might be competitive by 2015. But motor companies are more likely to concentrate on the production of Hybrids before fuel cells.
